Welcome to WLA!

WLA has as its mission to promote:

    • leadership development,
    • recognition, and
    • networking

of women campus leaders at UCSD. Arising from recommendations of UCSD's Gender Equity Summit, WLA is a grass-roots organization and informal network consisting of senior women faculty and other campus leaders. WLA is a subgroup of Committee on the Status of Women (which represents all UCSD women staff, students, and faculty) and sponsors joint activities with CSW and its subcommittee Women In Science and Engineering. WLA has a steering committee that sets directions and helps organize its activities.

WLA sponsors quarterly meetings with all three components (leadership development, recognition and networking). WLA also sponsors workshops that promote leadership development, such as the Negotiation Skills workshop in January, 2005.

WLA welcomes senior faculty and campus leaders who are interested in promoting its mission. To find out more about WLA, or to become a member, contact Jeanne Ferrante .
